What happens each week

Two hours designed around less pressure, more support.

Fibromyalgia can make it difficult to predict what your body will need from one day to the next. Room to Rest is built around adaptability rather than expectation.

◌

Somatic Movement

Soft, gentle movement with options to adapt to your energy, comfort and symptoms on the day.

☾

Restorative Yoga

Supported rest using bolsters, blankets and yoga blocks, with no expectation to push through discomfort.

◎

Non-Penetrating Acupressure

Individually considered point stimulation using SEIRIN Pyonex Zero patches. No needles pierce the skin.

Self-Soothing Practices

Explore compassionate ways to support yourself through difficult days, fatigue and flare-ups.

Meet Donna, Your Yoga Teacher

Gentle, restorative practice shaped by lived experience.

I’m Donna, the founder of How We Heal CIC, a Yoga Therapist, a Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher and a Somatic Coach. I’ve been teaching yoga since 2017, with a particular focus on body-led, trauma-informed practice.

My specialist interest is in trauma, the nervous system and the ways our experiences can show up through the body. Stress and trauma can influence how we experience tension, pain and fatigue, how we sleep, and our sense of safety within our own bodies.

I also live with fibromyalgia, so I know that what feels possible can change from one day to the next. My work is therefore less about asking a body to push or perform, and more about creating the conditions for it to feel supported enough to soften, rest and explore movement at its own pace.

Meet James, Your Five Element Acupuncturist

A whole-person approach, shaped around the person in front of me.

I’m James, a Five Element Acupuncturist and a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). I’ve been in practice for three years and, during that time, I’ve gained experience supporting people living with fibromyalgia through Acupuncture treatment in clinic.

What draws me to Five Element Acupuncture is its emphasis on treating the individual rather than reducing someone to a diagnosis. Two people can both live with fibromyalgia and yet experience pain, fatigue, sleep, stress and day-to-day life very differently. I’m interested in that individual picture — what is happening for you, and what might offer the most appropriate support on that particular day.

My interest in fibromyalgia has grown through working with patients who live with it and seeing just how changeable and multi-layered the condition can be. For Room to Rest, I’ll bring that same person-centred thinking into a much gentler, non-penetrating format.

Why a pilot?

Your experience helps shape what comes next.

Throughout the six weeks we’ll invite participants to tell us what felt helpful, unhelpful or made no difference. This feedback will help How We Heal CIC understand the experience and inform future programmes.

The intention isn’t to promise a cure. It is to create a supportive environment where women living with fibromyalgia can explore movement, rest and self-care at their own pace.

Booking, Commitment & Cancellation

Room to Rest is a six-week programme for a small, consistent group of women. Meeting with the same group each Friday allows time for trust and familiarity to develop, while offering the opportunity to connect with others who understand something of what living with fibromyalgia can be like, without having to explain everything.

We ask that you book with the intention of attending the full six-week programme. The theme of each week builds gently on the last, and attending all six sessions will give you the opportunity to experience the programme as a whole. Your commitment also helps to create continuity, trust and connection within the group.

We understand that fibromyalgia can be unpredictable. How you feel may be different from one week to the next, and the session can be whatever you need it to be that day. You might move, rest, lie comfortably and listen, or simply spend time in a calm and supportive space alongside the group. There can be value in gathering and being part of that environment, even on days when movement feels less available.

If a flare-up, illness or particularly difficult day means that coming along isn’t possible, we completely understand. There is no expectation to push through symptoms and no judgement if you need to miss a session — we simply ask that you let us know when you can.

As your place is reserved for the full programme, we are unable to offer refunds or credits for individual sessions you are unable to attend.

Payment

The total programme fee is £275.

A £75 deposit is required to secure your place, with the remaining £200 due by Friday 16 October 2026. If you join after this date, the balance will be due in full on confirmation of your place.

Because places are limited and reserved for the full six-week programme, payments are subject to our Booking Terms & Conditions, including our cancellation and refund policy. You will receive these in full before making any payment.

If you need to withdraw from the programme, please let us know as soon as possible. This gives us the best opportunity to offer your place to another woman who may be waiting to join.

If How We Heal CIC has to cancel a session or the programme, any refund or alternative arrangement due will be made in accordance with the Booking Terms & Conditions.

Places are intentionally limited to keep the group small and supportive.

Full location details, Booking Terms & Conditions and payment information will be provided when your place is offered and before you are asked to make any payment.

Questions people often have

Before you enquire.

Do I need yoga experience?

No. The programme focuses on gentle, invitational and restorative practices rather than performance or fitness.

What if I’m having a flare-up?

You are encouraged to adapt, pause, change position or simply rest. There is no expectation to push through symptoms.

What does a difficult day look like in the group?

A difficult day does not mean you have to opt out. You might choose to move very little, use extra support, lie down, sit, pause or rest for the whole session. You can spend an entire session resting and still be fully part of the group.

Are Acupuncture Needles Used?

No. Room to Rest uses non-penetrating SEIRIN Pyonex Zero Acupressure patches.

Do I have to receive Acupressure?

No. Acupressure is always optional and you can ask James questions before deciding.

What if I book and then need to cancel?

Please let us know as soon as you can. The £75 deposit is intended to be non-refundable if you cancel, subject to the Booking Terms & Conditions and your statutory rights. Early notice may also allow us to offer the place to someone on the waiting list.

Is this medical treatment?

Room to Rest is a wellbeing pilot. It does not replace diagnosis, medication or care from your GP, specialist or other healthcare professionals.
